This is my last community service which was helping in a fund raising event by the United Voice (Self-Advocacy Society of Persons with Learning DIsabilities). It is a Christmas charity sales event: A Gift to One is a Blessing to Another, which held from 30th November 2012 to January 2013, at Subang Parade.
Hoon Mun, Su-Xian, Eugene and I were in a group for this volunteer work. I had volunteered at there for 5 days which are 30th of November, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th of December 2012. We worked in the morning shift from 9a.m. to 2p.m. while Yee Yein and Joe were the afternoon shift. We were helping to sell the handicrafts, cookies which made by the persons with learning disabilities and also the United voice T-shirts. Every morning when we reached our booth, we were assigned to check the sales track sheet before we started our selling. Some of us were arranging the stuffs, counting for stocks, checking stocks and recording the number of stocks.

Busy-ing in the morning. Arranging cookies (Eugene), Counting stocks (Me), Recording stocks (Hoon Mun) and Packaging the stocks (Su-Xian). |
On the first day of the event, we were asked to set up a Christmas tree. The Christmas tree is for those who bought a gift pack to hang their messages on the tree. This is the first time I set up a Christmas tree and it is not an easy job to set up a nice Christmas tree. But finally we made it and took a photo with the nice Christmas tree.

After everything was settling up, then we start our selling. Su-Xian and Eugene were helping to give out the leaflets to the passer-by while Hoon Mun and I in-charged of the selling. We took turns to exchange our job.

Handicrafts: Cards, Bookmarks, Keychains, Gift tags, Saori Dolls, Magnets, Name cards boxes, Paintings, Handmade soaps, Gift packs and United Voice T-shirts. |
 |
Cookies: Almond, Shortbread, Choc n nuts, Sesame. |
It was so impressive when I saw all the handicrafts that made by them. All the handicrafts were so nice and exquisite and I was admiring of their hard works. I was trying my best to sell their hard works and also bought some of the handicrafts as a supportive to them.
What I have learnt from there is that don't give up so easily anytime in our life. We have to think positively like what they are. They are so strong and even stronger than anyone of us. They are working hard to live a better tomorrow. How are us? We are too blessed compared with them so just cherish or treasure what we have now. Do lend your helping hand to those who needs your love!!
♥ Stay strong and happy to all of you with learning disabilities ♥
